2024

It appears I usually post a summary of the year we just had right about now.  This is hard, hang on (checks files).  What the hell did I do in 2024?

In February I decided we should go hiking for my birthday so we did Johnston Canyon.  It was freezing and busy.  Kev was very delighted with this choice.  He got pizza after. 

Since we were being all active again and whatnot, we trained for and ran the Calgary Half in May.  It rained quite aggressively.

The Calgary Expo was a joy as always, highlights this year were Denis Lawson (Local Hero), Matt Lillard (like, everything) and Ethan Suplee (everything else).  I could not win a Miffy in the claw machine to save my life, I spent a shameful amount of money trying.  I am not proud.

2024 also marked a full return to hiking and some awesome kayaking.  The hiking is required to balance the kayak/floating snackfest situation.  We also ran 3 trail races.

We went home to Scotland in July and Los Angeles for HHN in September - neither trip involved running or races.  Both were wonderful in very different ways.  I miss rain. 

There was outstanding aurora activity in 2024, these are from 4 different nights.  Most are taken from our back deck with some light pollution on the iPhone.  This is the first year I've seen red with my own eyes.

The kittens have continued to be an absolute treat, all 4 kits have had a great year.  Kaos likes to bring us toys (specifically her banana) at 2 am and Daisy got 100 springs for her Christmas and can't wait to hide every one of them.  Pepper got a new kitty sofa and Tess is delighted with her cat tunnels (she can hide from the nail clippers).

Since the year usually ends in a state of inactivity and depression, this year there is training instead.  All sorts of running and fitness is underway.  2025 involves 2 big birthdays and our 25th wedding anniversary so we want to do something memorable.  It'll probably be ridiculously tiring.
